PracticeWorks Partners with World Renowned
Oral Maxillofacial Surgeon to Educate the Benefits of Using 3D Technology for
Patient Diagnosis and Treatment
ATLANTA –PracticeWorks, LLC, the exclusive maker of KODAK Dental Systems, partners with renowned oral surgeon; Michael A. Pikos, D.D.S., to discuss the advancements in and the diagnostic benefits of using 3D technology. Dr. Pikos will embark on a series of speaking engagements and demonstrations at various PracticeWorks hosted conferences over the next several months. Dr. Pikos’ curriculum will include sharing clinical case studies where he used 3D digital imaging machines to diagnose and treat his patients.
Dr. Pikos has extensive experience in implant surgery and hard and soft tissue grafting procedures. As founder and CEO of the Pikos Implant Institute, Dr. Pikos has been teaching advanced bone and soft tissue grafting courses to more than 2,200 alumni members in the 32 countries, including the United States for the past 20 years.
PracticeWorks offers the KODAK 9000 3D Extraoral Imaging System and the KODAK 9500 Cone Beam 3D System, which provide clear and accurate images that are ideal for endodontic, periodontal and orthodontic evaluations, as well as implant placements for 1-2 teeth. The KODAK 9000 3D System combines the power of focused-field 3D cone beam computed technology (CBCT) with cutting-edge panoramic imaging. This 2-in-1 unit delivers unprecedented detail, capturing a high resolution image while outputing a low radiation dose.
The KODAK 9500 Cone Beam 3D System eliminates the superimpositions of unnecessary objects, adds dimension to the depth, which is an important tool for determining growth trajectories, and offers a high contrast between tissues of differing densities. The KODAK 9500 3D System is available in both medium-field of view, ideal for multiple implant placements, or large-field of view, a great option for orthognathics, trauma and airway evaluations.. Both systems integrate with the KODAK OMS Imaging Software. PracticeWorks also offers an integrated implant planning feature that is used to draw virtual screws and temporary anchoring devices and position them in 3D images.
"The impact that Cone Beam CT has had on both my practice and my Institute during the past 5 years has been nothing short of incredible. This technology has resulted in a significant paradigm shift with my approach to comprehensive diagnosis and treatment planning,” stated Dr. Pikos. “I have especially found the KODAK CBCT to be a notch above with regard to image quality and software application. In addition, our practice has benefited immensely from the easy integration of all appropriate KODAK software and hardware throughout our offices."
Just a decade ago, 3D dental imaging technology was still in its infancy. Today, 3D imaging systems provide important clinical information for a wide variety of oral surgical procedures, including extractions, bone grafts, sinus lifts, implant placements and craniofacial procedures.
“Oral and maxillofacial surgeons treat patients with three-dimensional problems every day, which is why such surgeons are expanding the role played by 3D dental imaging technology,” said Patrik Eriksson, president and CEO, PracticeWorks. “As 3D technology has matured, it has become more readily available, more affordable, and easier to use.”
