Dr. Michael A. Pikos - Dr. Pikos is originally from Campbell, Ohio. He attended The Ohio State University where he graduated Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa. He also graduated with honors from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry. Dr. Pikos completed an internship at Miami Valley Hospital and residency training in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh, Montefiore Hospital.
He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Implantology/Implant Dentistry, Diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and a Fellow of the American College of Dentists. Dr. Pikos is the recipient of the 2006 Aaron Gershkoff Memorial Award from the American Academy of Implant Dentistry and the 2015 Saul Schluger Memorial Award for Top Educator. He is also the first recipient of the Carl E. Misch Advanced Dental Implant Studies Education Award (2017).
He is an Adjunct Assistant Professor, Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at The Ohio State University College of Dentistry and Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine. He is also a Courtesy Clinical Associate Professor, Department of Periodontology and Department of Prosthodontics at the University of Florida College of Dentistry, Adjunct Professor, Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, School of Dentistry, and Adjunct Associate Professor, Department of Periodontology, University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Dr. Pikos is on the Editorial Board of the following journals: Implant Dentistry, Inside Dentistry, the Journal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry and the Journal of Implant and Advanced Clinical Dentistry.
As an OMS, he is one of the first clinicians to recognize the relevance of Cone Beam CT and interactive CT technology for comprehensive diagnosis and treatment planning along with its implementation for implant based oral rehabilitation. As a result, Dr. Pikos has made this high technology a cornerstone of both his private practice and Institute.
Dr. Pikos has extensive experience in implant surgery and hard and soft tissue procedures. He also emphasizes interactive CT technology along with foundational principles of prosthetics and biomechanics that dictate the ultimate success of comprehensive implant rehabilitation.
Dr. Pikos is the author of the book “Bone Augmentation in Implant Dentistry” published by Quintessence Publishing. He has lectured extensively on dental implants in North and South America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Dr. Pikos is an active member and frequent lecturer for the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Academy of Periodontics, the Academy of Osseointegration, the American Academy of Implant Dentistry and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists.
Dr. Pikos is founder and CEO of the Pikos Institute. Since 1990 he has been teaching advanced bone and soft tissue grafting courses along with full arch immediate reconstruction courses with alumni that now number more than 4300 from all 50 states and 43 countries. Dr. Pikos maintains a private practice which is limited exclusively to implant surgery in Trinity, Florida.
Dr. Albert H. Mattia (Faculty Emeritus) is a graduate of the St. Lawrence University, and received a Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.
He is a Diplomate and Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, Fellow of the American Society of Osseointegration and the American College of Oral Implantology. As a student of Dr. Peter Dawson, he was one of the first U.S. dentists to perform implant surgery and restoration implementing the Concept of Complete Dentistry.
Dr. Mattia has extensive experience in dental implant rehabilitation, interactive CT diagnosis and complex case implant planning. He has provided comprehensive surgical and prosthetic implant dentistry to a South Florida senior population over a twenty-five year career in solo practice.
With an enthusiasm for technology that is contagious, he is recognized as a pioneer in digital imaging and dental computer applications. He is one of the profession’s most experienced clinicians with diagnostic imaging, including volumetric cone beam technology and interactive CT interpretation.
Dr. David Lee Hill is a comprehensive Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon who is passionate about providing his patients with outstanding care. He has extensive experience in implant surgery and hard and soft tissue grafting procedures, and is dedicated to his clients' comfort and to achieving long-lasting solutions for their oral surgical needs.
Prior to establishing his Implant and Oral Surgery practice in Chapel Hill, Dr. Hill completed a four-year residency training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of North Carolina. He also completed a two-year General Practice Residency at the University of North Carolina Hospital and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the West Virginia University School of Dentistry. He received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from West Virginia University.
Dr. Hill currently serves as an Adjunct Clinical Instructor in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at UNC-Chapel Hill and has participated in numerous volunteer projects providing dental and oral surgical care to underserved populations in the United States and abroad.
He is dedicated to the newest advancements in CT-guided implant surgery and keeps up to date with the latest practices and technologies through an ongoing commitment to continuing education.
He is a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, the Academy of Osseointegration, the International Team for Implantology, North Carolina State Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, North Carolina State Dental Association, the American Dental Association, and the American Association of Dental Research.
Dr. Lloyd M. Tucker received his dental degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1990. During his 8 years at Penn, he was initiated into Delta Phi Alpha, the National German Honor Society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the Dental Honor Society, and the Matthew Cryer Honor Society, the highest scholastic award granted by the U. of Penn Dental School. He furthered his knowledge by completing a general practice residency at the Jewish General Hospital of Montréal.
After returning home to Pittsburgh and practicing general dentistry with his father for 2 years, he moved to Seattle and received both his Certificate of Proficiency in Periodontics and his Master of Science in Dentistry at the University of Washington in 1996. Dr. Tucker was the Clinical Editor of the Seattle Study Club Journal from 1997 to 2003.
He opened his private practice in 1999 and founded the Renaissance Study Club (part of the Seattle Study Club Network) in 2000. Dr. Tucker has co-authored several studies published in the periodontal and implant literature and in 2005 became a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. He also contributed a chapter in the textbook Interdisciplinary Treatment Planning published by Quintessence in 2008.
Dr. Carl W. Magyar is a graduate of Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy from the College of Allied Medicine and a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the College of Dentistry. .
Dr. Magyar has maintained a general dentistry practice for over thirty years in Crystal River with a focus on complex implant related treatment planning and restoration. In addition, Dr. Magyar has been and continues to be directly involved in innovation of procedures, dental materials, and dental products. He has been a clinical researcher, clinical educator and completed multiple clinical trials. Dr. Magyar is a co-author of several articles relating to dental materials.
Dr. Magyar is currently committed to pursuing CT driven surgical and restorative technologies and solutions. He is a Diplomat of the International College of Oral Implantologists , Fellow Of The American Society of Osseointegration, and the American Dental Association.
Dr. Richard Miron is currently an Adjunct Professor in the department of Periodontology at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA where he started working in April 2016. He previously worked for 7 years in Bern Switzerland in the Oral Surgery department as head of pre-clinical research under Chair Daniel Buser and Anton Sculean.
He has currently published over 100 peer-reviewed articles and lectures internationally on many topics relating to growth factors, bone biomaterials and guided bone regeneration. He has recently been awarded many international prizes in dentistry and is widely considered as one of the top contributors to implant dentistry having won the International Team for Implantology Andre Schroeder Prize in 2016, the International Association of Dental Research (IADR) Young Investigator of the Year in the field of Implant Dentistry in 2015, and the American Academy of Implant Dentistry Young Investigator of the year award in 2014.
Dr. Jennifer Hirsch Doobrow, a Board Certified Periodontist, is the Owner of Periodontal and Implant Associates, Inc. located in Cullman, AL. She earned her DMD at the Medical University of South Carolina in 2007 and received her certification in Periodontics from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) in 2010. She serves on the editorial review board for the E-Newsletter "Regenerative Update" and sits on the Leadership Council for the UAB School of Dentistry. She holds President positions in the Alabama Society of Periodontists and the Wilson Chenault Dental Study Club. In 2012, Dr. Doobrow was recognized as one of the University of Georgia's (UGA) prestigious 40 Under 40. Most recently, Dr. Doobrow was awarded the 2013 UAB School of Dentistry Outstanding Young Alumnus Award and was featured on Lifetime Network’s “The Balancing Act,” discussing the importance of maintaining good oral health. She has published articles in Compendium, Implant Dentistry, and DentistryIQ, and lectures extensively throughout the United States on dental implants and regenerative therapies.
She is an active member of the Alabama Dental Association, Alabama Society of Periodontists, American Academy of Periodontology, American Dental Association, International Congress of Oral Implantology, and the Southern Academy of Periodontology.
Dr. Phillip J. Hedger, was born in St. Petersburg, Florida and grew up in Palm Harbor, Florida. He attended the University of Florida for his undergraduate studies in Nutrition and received his dental doctorate from the University of Florida College of Dentistry. Dr. Hedger then completed an Advanced Prosthodontics Residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry. Dr. Hedger maintains an active involvement within the dental community, serving on committees and providing educational lectures to peers. He lives with his wife Stacy (his high-school sweetheart) and their three daughters in Tarpon Springs. In his free time he enjoys spending time with his family and friends.
