Here is a brief overview of how I have harvested all of my ramus buccal shelf block grafts since 1990-more than a thousand.
Option 1 – Use of a 702 straight fissure bur for the crestal, anterior and posterior osteotomies and a #8 round fissure bur for the inferior “cut” which in reality is a groove that allows the block graft to be green stick fractured and removed from the donor site.
Option 2 – Use of Piezoelectric Surgical Device for all osteotomies. OT-7 for crestal osteotomy, OT-8 L for anterior and posterior vertical osteotomies, and OT-8 R for inferior osteotomy – R side. Flip all bur types for L side.
