Dr. Guo-Hao (Alex) Lin, DDS, MS, is a board-certified periodontist, Diplomate, and examiner of the American Board of Periodontology. He currently serves as Associate Professor and Director of the Postgraduate Periodontics Program at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), and holds an adjunct faculty appointment at the University of Michigan. Dr. Lin’s clinical and academic expertise spans periodontal regeneration, implant therapy, and evidence-based decision-making. His scholarly contributions include over 100 peer-reviewed publications and several book chapters that have advanced the understanding of peri-implant tissue phenotype, hard and soft tissue augmentation, and the risk factors associated with peri-implantitis.
Dr. Lin has been widely recognized for his achievements as an educator and clinician-scientist. He is a multiple-time award recipient from the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP), including the Dr. D. Walter Cohen Teaching Award (2016), the AAP Teaching Fellowship (2018), and the Dr. Colin Richman and Family Perio-Ortho Interface Award (2021). His research excellence was honored with the AAP Clinical Research Award in 2021 and the AAP Special Citation Award in 2025. A Fellow of both the International Team for Implantology (ITI) and the American College of Dentists, Dr. Lin continues to inspire innovation in periodontology and implant dentistry through teaching, research, and clinical leadership.
